Day 2
River Rafting and UNESCO World Heritage Site Ironbridge
Located just outside Telford, Shropshire Raft Tours take groups on scenic tours down the river Severn from world heritage site Ironbridge to the picturesque town of Jackfield. There are no whitewater rapids meaning visitors aged 2 to 92 can enjoy floating down the river on the 16 seater rafts. The tours are guided and focus on the history of the river activity during the industrial revolution and surrounding area. There is also wildlife to spot along the way including kingfishers, otters, wagtails, swans and so much more. There are allocated coach drop off and pick up points on the route.
As the birthplace of the industrial revolution, and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1986, Ironbridge is one of the wonders of the world. In the morning before the raft we visit Blists Hill Victorian Town, a recreation of a late nineteenth century town. Meet the Victorians in their authentic shops and cottages, see curious goods from a bygone era and watch tradespeople in action in their atmospheric workshops and factories.
Allow 90 minutes for Scenic Float Tour. Rafts run @ 11.30am, 2pm or 4.30pm. Access to the boat involves walking up and down rough terrain. Rafts may not be able to run in extreme weather.
