Day 1
Arrival, croquet and gin tasting
Afternoon: Arrive at Stapleford Park in the early afternoon and enjoy a glass of champagne to welcome you to your luxury break. The activities begin in traditional style with a croquet competition on the main lawn.
You’ll then enjoy a tutored gin tasting, presented by one of Leicestershire’s leading gin distillers. There’s time to relax before dinner in the main hotel. Dining at Stapleford Park offers a number of choices. It might be in the elegant surroundings of the award-winning Grinling Gibbons dining room or the The Grand Hall, one of England’s finest rooms for corporate hospitality. It might be the rich and magnificent Harborough Room, perfect for a private dinner party, while private dining or cocktails can be taken in The Billiard Room, overlooking the terrace and gardens.
Day 2
Country pursuits and cheese tasting
Morning: Stapleford Park offers a choice of traditional country pursuits, giving you the opportunity to try something new, or improve existing skills. At Stapleford Park’s own School of Falconry you can experience the ancient and aristocratic art of falconry in an authentic setting, handling majestic birds of prey under the expert guidance of Stapleford’s head falconer. Enjoy the challenge of archery with a personal tutor to guide you as you get ever closer to hitting the centre of the target. Try your hand at clay pigeon shooting or saddle-up for a ride through the parkland and country lanes.
Afternoon: After lunch in the hotel there’s time to enjoy a different country pursuit, or relax with a dip in one of the jewels of Stapleford Park, the stunning 22-metre mosaic swimming pool. There’s a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi or perhaps really unwind in one of seven unique treatment rooms offering an extensive range of therapies.
In the late afternoon there’s an opportunity to sample another of Leicestershire’s culinary delights with a cheese tasting competition. Will you know your Stilton from your Red Leicester? There’s time to relax before dinner in the hotel.
Day 3
Travel home but don’t forget the pork pie!
Morning: A morning to relax with a gentle walk through the parkland and down to the lake. Perhaps go swimming or pamper yourself in the spa.
On the way home from Stapleford, call in at Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe in Melton for a demonstration of pork pie making, the town’s most famous food. Or perhaps call in at Burleigh House, near Stamford, one of England’s greatest Elizabethan houses and the town itself, regarded as one of the finest Georgian towns in England.
